Tutorial shorts

It’s been a while since our last post. So we thought we’d give you an update.

First of all, we’re doing a series of short video tutorials, where every weekend we release a new short video. We intend to keep this up for a few months at least.

You can subscribe to our Youtube channel: youtube.com/tastychips ,

or you can watch our Instagram reels: https://www.instagram.com/tastychips_synth/

The first one is a hands-on example on how to make a granular patch from acoustic samples, and how to leverage the GR-MEGA’s up-front controls to achieve said goal. A good starting point for the journey into the world of granular sound design.

Bobeats reviews the GR-MEGA / acoustic samples

Bobeats made a nice video review of the GR-MEGA and Shaper Sound made a small tutorial on how to use real physical acoustic objects and instruments with the GR-MEGA. Check it!

Firmware 1.6 development

As we’ve laid out in the roadmap (in this previous news letter here), 1.6 will center around the sequencer and files. It is scheduled for release in mid March. We’re open for feature requests, and change requests. On our Discord server you can follow all of these. https://discord.gg/CxuXG34xZA

Macros were recently added to this. You may have noticed the [Macro assign] button. Macros are implemented and we intend to offer at least 10 macros, which you can change with the ADSR faders. Macros can control all modulation destinations (more than 120 at the time of writing). You can set ranges, and on top of that macros can also be modulated. Using this button and by turning knobs, assignment becomes easy.

The sequencer has already received a bunch of updates, most notably sequencing in multitimbral mode. You now have the option to turn sequencers on and off per layer. The sequencers now default to global BPM, and they can MIDI sequence your devices if you should so choose.

We now have a clipboard so that you can copy and paste presets and samples between projects, text entry is easier, and messages and system tray are now visible in the menus too, and many more.

As mentioned before. Please feel welcome to join in on Discord or just email us at info@tastychips.nl if you want to add something.
